Ketonal is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and effective pain relief medicine.
Ketoprofen, the active substance of this medicine, inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase (cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)), which catalyzes the synthesis of prostaglandins in the metabolism of arachidonic acid.
Ketonal is a non-steroidal anti-rheumatic medicine with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. It is used to relieve pain in a number of pain syndromes and to treat inflammatory, degenerative and metabolic rheumatic diseases.
Indications for use
Pain:
post-traumatic
post-operative
painful menstruation
pain due to bone metastases in patients with tumors
Rheumatic diseases:
rheumatoid arthritis
ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis
gout, pseudo gout
osteoarthritis
extra-articular rheumatism (tendinitis, bursitis, capsulitis of the shoulder joint)
seronegative arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis /Bechterew’s disease/, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis /Reiter’s syndrome/
Pain syndrome, including mild, moderate and severe:
headache;
toothache;
post-traumatic and postoperative pain syndrome;
pain syndrome in oncological diseases;
algomenorrhea.
Dosage and administration
For oral administration. Capsules should be taken during or after meals with at least 100 ml of water. Capsules should be taken whole, do not chew.
Capsules 50 mg: usually 1-2 capsules 2-3 times/day.
Recommended Dose
Adults and adolescents over 15 years: The usual dose is 1 capsule in the morning, at lunch and in the evening.
Dose for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis: 1 capsule every 6 hours.
Dose for mild to moderate pain and dysmenorrhea: 1 capsule every 6-8 hours.
You can take antacids at the same time, which reduce the likelihood of adverse effects of Ketonal on the digestive system.
The maximum daily dose of ketoprofen is 200 mg.
Storage
Keep out of reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25C.
